Day 3 - August 16, 2010 - Creativity & Surprises

On Monday, August 16th the campers received the second installment of studies center on the theme: "Be a Hero: Living Like Jesus."  The emphasis was based on the title: "Be a Hero: Be a Friend."  Based on 1 Samuel 20:1-42 where David, the future king of Israel, is on the run from King Saul, the current king, and in fear for his life.  David seeks out his best friend, Saul's son Jonathan and an amazing journey begins.
The campers and staff then did all that was necessary to try to make the best of a cloudy and rainy day.  In the midst of this weather there were peaks of sunshine, yet more importantly the campers were enjoying their time making new friends.

Due to rain, we were unable to have the campfire outside.  Yet, thankful for cyberspace we had a virtual campfire in Charlotte's Room and the Lord blessed us exceedingly so.  We sang old-time favorite songs and prepared for an awesome meditation by our sister Jennie Rodriguez.

Jennie shared her story as an illustration of Matthew 5:13-16 & John 15:12-14 where God's awesome power brought a girl from Brooklyn out of seeimingly impossible odds to be utilized for extraordinary things.  This story could not be contained and the Spirit manifested itself in wonderful ways as many young people resonated with her story and acknowledged Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior . . . to God be the glory!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
