Day 6 - Pajama Day - August 19

The challenge: wake up and stay in your pajamas!  The campers and staff were agreeable and WOW, what a treat!  The pajamas were, let's say, interesting!  Yet, this exercise began the day with much laughter and fun.  The fourth edition of our studies took place from 10am - 11am, while Rev. Aloyo and Rev. Gonzalez had a heart-to-heart talk with the male counselors and staff regarding the challenges before us. Rev. Aloyo and rev. Gonzalez at the conclusion of the gathering offered the young men the opportunity to meet every two months to claim the challenges before us and explore opportunities for further growth as active witnesses of God's grace and mercy!

We then moved on to the annual Staff vs. Campers Softball Game.  For the past ten years the staff have won this competition, yet this year there was a twist!  Several of the staff were on the camper's team!  The campers began with an early lead scoring four runs in the first inning.  The staff came up and tied the game!  it was close until the fifth inning when the staff blew the game wide open by scoring ten runs.  Final score: Staff 18, campers 6!

The entire camp came and cheered for the campers and it was so delightful!

Pastor Victor hitting and scoring in some runs!  Mineral Ice was later used!

Jennie hit the ball and got a hit for her first time playing softball . . . it was quite an accomplishment!

At dinner we celebrated Carmen Lydia's 84th birthday!  Carmen Lydia is a member of The Redeemer Church in East Brooklyn.  She is our nurse's (Evelyn) grandmother.  Happy Birthday!

We then concluded the evening with "Bring It."  Each group prepared a skit on a Biblical theme and it was quite entertaining.  We were grateful for the visitors who joined us and celebrated the gifts of our children and youth during these presentations. We are beginning to pack our belongings as Friday will be the last full day of the retreat.  We pray for continued blessings from our Lord!
